A consignment of 250 000 doses of the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine has arrived from China.
The vaccines arrived on Friday at the Hosea Kutako International Airport, a day before schedule, the information ministry said.
Health minister Kalumbi Shangula said on Thursday that the vaccines will be distributed over the weekend, which means that vaccinations will resume countrywide on Monday, 19 July.
“We [also] expect delivery of 40 800 doses of AstraZeneca from the Covax facility as from next week. The government has procured 333 333 doses of Johnson & Johnson from the African Union Platform.
