Wanted to flag a new project to ensure that students develop data science
and data literacy skills.
The Data Science for Everyone coalition has just launched a “commitments”
campaign to call upon organizations to commit to expanding access to data
science education nationwide.
Today almost every occupation involves interpreting and analyzing data, yet
the prevailing math curriculum in K-12 schools does little to support
students in developing these vital skills.
The Commitments Campaign is live now and we will be officially launching
the coalition later this month with support from a wide variety of
individuals from former Education Secretary Arne Duncan to *Freakonomics*
author Steven Levitt.
A commitment is a great way to gain visibility for organizations doing work
in the space. States like Utah — and cities like D.C. — are planning
commitments. Same with companies like Netapp.
Interested in making a commitment? Want to learn more? Join a webinar on
April 1st at noon EST with Kumar Garg from Schmidt Futures.
