*Research Showcase: *Precision Education: Lessons from the Virtual
Learning Lab

*Audience: *Educational researchers, virtual learning platform developers,
K12 education administrators

*Overview:* The Virtual Learning Lab (VLL) is a 5-year research
collaboration to explore *precision education*. The VLL developed an
AI-powered video recommendation system for Math Nation that promotes
personalized math instruction. The researchers measured student ability and
engagement, detected effects of virtual learning environment usage on
achievement, and identified characteristics of effective online tutoring.
Join this live session with VLL researchers from the University of Florida,
University of Colorado – Boulder, and Arizona State University to discuss
their experience with data mining, natural language processing, computation
psychometrics and advanced causal inference methods. The event will have a
series of short talks followed by questions.

*List of short talks:*
