The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has threatened to drag the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to court over alleged unlawful arrest, torture and detention of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu and other agitators in Nigeria.
The leadership of MASSOB petitioned the United Nations, African Union, United States of America, G8 nations and international human right organizations to save IPOB from political annihilation.
MASSOB made this known through a statement signed by the National Director of Information, Comrade Edeson Samuel, and forwarded to newsmen, yesterday.
The group called on the international community to sanction the Nigerian government led by Buhari for allegedly abusing human rights and annihilation of IPOB in Nigeria.
The statement reads in part, “We call on the United Nations, African Union, United States of America, G8 Nations and International Human Rights Organizations to sanction Nigeria state for her anti human rights abuses and terrorist activities of the Fulani tribe backed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
“This atrocious act of Nigeria government has led to the killings, unlawful arrest, abductions, tortured and detentions of innocent Biafra agitators.
“We wish to inform the people of Biafra that MASSOB has finalized plans through our legal team to sue Muhammadu Buhari-led Nigerian government to the international criminal court of Justice, Hague.
“MASSOB warned that nothing harmful will ever happen to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Sunday Igboho and other Biafra/Oduduwa freedom agitators that have been held, tortured, starved and denied medical attention.
“MASSOB condemned the insensitivities of Nigeria combined security agents on swooping on non violence members of Oduduwa Republic agitators in their rally at Lagos.
“Nigeria security brutalities and clampdowns on both Biafra and Oduduwa Republics agitators will never deter us from pursuing our independence goals.
“Muhammadu Buhari is known as a religious fanatic and a tyrannous element who always grabs power forcefully. In 1983 as a military president when he took over power through military coup, he kidnapped Alhaji Umaru Dikko in a foreign country, he tried to smuggle him back to Nigeria in a box before the country’s security personnel intercepted him. Today, it’s Nnamdi Kanu who knows his next victim.”
The group however chided Buhari for re-arresting Kanu and declaring him a terrorist while keeping silent on the activities of murderous and terrorist Fulani herdsmen armed with AK47 rifles. They kill people at will; they are being pampered as the president’s kinsmen.
“MASSOB will continue to keep the world on notice that Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State are the real instigators and sponsors of terrorism in Nigeria.
“The only solution to Nigerian political and ethnic crises is to conduct a referendum to allow the indigenous people to decide if they still want to remain in Nigerian or not,” the group stressed.
